Pedro de Mendoza Primary School
Boca, Buenos Aires
(Near the famous Caminito)

On May 11, 2007 I met one of the English teachers who said she loved the idea of inviting backackers in to meet the students. Her name is Carmen Restuiccia. There are pics of her below. She also teaches at four other schools. (This is very typical in Argentina)
This school is right next tothe famous Caminito district of Boca. It is across from the big boat which is permanently docked in the river and across from the bus stop for busses 29, 64 and 152 which go back to San Telmo. I asked Carmen if any travellers had ever visited her school and she said no.
How to get there from From San Telmo
Bus 29 from Bolivar
Bus 64 or 152 from Paseo Colon. Anyone can tell you where Paseo Colon is, but here are the way the streets run
9 de Julio, Piedras, Chacabuco, Peru, Bolivar, Defensa, Balcarce, Paseo Colon

My flash wasn't working inside the office, so I took one outside on her way out, as the kids were all leaving, too. The woman in the white in the pic above is Giselda. She knows about the idea in case you get to the office and Carmen isn't there, but she only speaks Spanish!

Good luck and have fun! If you take some pictures, please send them to me!
Thanks,
Steve
